SILVER SPRING, MD, April 28, 2009 - The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), ENERGY STAR Program today announces an in-depth case study of a common area laundry room located at the Colesville Towers, an apartment community managed by Realty Management Services in Silver Spring, Md. A grand reopening, "green" ribbon cutting ceremony, to be held at the community Tuesday April 28, 2009, 6 p.m. EDT, 8811 Colesville Road, will mark the beginning of the study.
The ENERGY STAR Program plans on using the Colesville Towers to investigate the costs and savings associated with using energy efficient equipment in multifamily laundry rooms. Study findings will be publicized nationwide to apartment owner/operators to help further educate the multifamily industry on the benefits of utilizing energy efficient products.
Coinmach, a premier provider of laundry equipment services to the multifamily industry, completed the total renovation of the Colesville Towers laundry room using high efficiency ENERGY STAR qualified machines. These machines, including LG front load washers and SpeedQueen stacked dryers, will provide 50 percent savings in water and energyconsumption.
We are honored to partner with the DOE ENERGY STAR Program and Realty Management on this initiative," said Steve Kerrigan, CEO of Coinmach Service Corp., parent company to Coinmach. It is imperative to educate the multifamily housing industry on the benefits of energy efficient machines and how easy going green actually is. This case study will not only help further confirm the importance of being a responsible global citizen but show the financial benefits of being energy efficient as well.
As an official ENERGY STAR Program Partner, Coinmach offers energy consumption savings to multifamily communities through technology advanced, industry-leading energy efficient laundry equipment.
